Ultrafiltration (UF) is a type of membrane filtration in which hydrostatic pressure forces a liquid against a semipermeable membrane. Once considered a viable technology only for desalination, membrane processes are increasingly employed for removal of bacteria and other microorganisms, particulate material, and natural organic material.
Ultrafiltration (UF) systems use hydrostatic pressure to push solvents against a very fine membrane. They block suspended particulates and large solids while allowing water and solutes with lower molecular weight to flow through. Spiral wound UF/MF membranes offer excellent performance for the clarification of process water and waste water.
