DAF System and Dissolved Air Flotation
Dissolved Air Flotation is a water treatment process that clarifies wastewaters (or other waters) by the removal of suspended matter such as oil or solids. The removal is achieved by dissolving air in the water or wastewater under pressure and then releasing the air atmospheric pressure in a flotation tank basin.
The released air forms tiny bubbles which adhere to the suspended matter causing the suspended matter to float to the surface of the water where it may then be removed by a skimming device.
Working Process
The wastewater enter RT1 (coagulation reaction tank) and RT2 (flocculation reaction tank) from the equalization tank through the lift pump, and coagulates with PAC, floculates with (PAM) respectively form the flocs.
Then the wastewater and dissolved water enter the reaction zone of the DAF tank, and the microbubbles and flocs in the dissolved water are mixed and adhered to form solid particles, which the density less than water, and float up to the surface of the DAF tank.
Under the action of buoyancy, scum is scraped to the slag tank. The clean water is collected down to the collect tank through the water collecting pipe, and most of the outer water is discharged (or into the next process), and a small part of the water is recirculated to form the dissolved water.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the primary function of a DAF system?
The DAF (Dissolved Air Flotation) system is designed to clarify wastewater by removing suspended matter such as oils, fats, and solids using micro-bubbles that attach to particles and float them to the surface.
How efficient is the air dissolution process?
Our high-efficiency dissolved air system reaches an efficiency level of at least 95%, ensuring stable and effective treatment of various wastewater types.
What information is needed to select the correct DAF model?
To select the right model, you should provide the wastewater type, SS content, Oil/Grease/FOG content, pH value, and the BOD/COD levels of the influent.
Can the DAF system operate automatically?
Yes, the system features automatic control for liquid level and slagging, allowing for unattended operation and stable treatment efficiency.
What is the typical moisture content of the removed scum?
Thanks to the advanced liquid level controlling and automatic slagging mechanism, the moisture content of the resulting scum is typically less than 98%.
Is the DAF system suitable for high-corrosive environments?
While a pH of 6-9 is preferred, the material of the DAF system can be considered based on the presence of corrosive substances, and a pH adjustment tank can be added before the DAF process.
