DAF System Overview

Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) is a highly efficient water treatment process that clarifies wastewaters by removing suspended matter such as oil or solids. This removal is achieved by dissolving air in the water under pressure and then releasing it at atmospheric pressure in a flotation tank basin.

DAF System for Waste Water Treatment

Working Process

The wastewater enters RT1 (coagulation) and RT2 (flocculation) reaction tanks to form flocs using PAC and PAM.
Microbubbles in the dissolved water adhere to solid particles, creating flocs with a density less than water.
Particles float to the surface where scum is scraped away, while clean water is collected from the bottom.

Technical Details & Advantages

⭐ High Efficiency

Dissolved air system efficiency reaches at least 95%.

⭐ Automatic Control

Liquid level controlling for automatic slagging; scum moisture content less than 98%.

⭐ Low Maintenance

Non-clogging design ensures stable treatment and unattended operation.

⭐ Optimized Investment

Small footprint, high effluent quality, and low initial investment.

Model Selection Criteria

To select the right DAF model, the following parameters should be considered:

  • Wastewater Type: Dairy, car wash, slaughterhouse, food processing, or river water.
  • SS Content: Suspended solids concentration (ppm or mg/L).
  • Oil & Grease: Content of FOG (ppm or mg/L).
  • PH Level: 6~9 is preferred; otherwise, a PH adjustment tank is required.
  • Chemical Demand: BOD and COD levels (ppm or mg/L).

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: How does the DAF system remove oil and solids?

The system dissolves air into the wastewater under pressure. When released into the tank, it forms microbubbles that attach to solids and oils, causing them to float to the surface for removal by a skimmer.

Q2: What is the efficiency of the dissolved air system?

Our advanced DAF technology achieves a dissolved air system efficiency of at least 95%, ensuring stable and high-quality effluent.

Q3: Is the system difficult to maintain?

No, the system is designed to be non-clogging and supports automatic control. It allows for unattended operation and requires minimal manual maintenance.

Q4: Can this system handle highly acidic or alkaline wastewater?

The preferred PH range is 6-9. For highly corrosive substances, we recommend a PH adjustment tank before the DAF process or selecting specialized materials for the tank construction.

Q5: What are the primary benefits of using DAF over traditional clarification?

DAF systems offer a much smaller footprint, higher efficiency in removing light particles like grease and oils, and a lower moisture content in the resulting sludge/scum.

Q6: What information is needed for a customized quote?

Please provide the type of wastewater, flow rate (m3/h), and concentrations of SS, Oil & Grease, COD, and BOD for an accurate model selection.
